Battlefield!

October14

On Monday, Indigo 1 went out into the playground and held a realistic reenactment of the Battle of Hastings, complete with shields, spears, helmets, tabards and, erm, even some beards! Because the children know the chronology of the battle so well now, it was almost like being in the heart of the real thing. When we realised that it is the 949th anniversary of the Battle today, that was just the icing on our Topic cake! Watch out for our epic (and I don’t use the word lightly) KS2 assembly on this soon.

Jump to it!

October14

In Maths, Hibah’s group used the 100 square in the playground to jump on and back in intervals of 10s. It was a bit chilly, but it certainly helped to distinguish between adding and subtracting multiples of 10.

Battle shields!

October1

As part of our Topic work on The Battle of Hastings, Indigo 1 have been busy designing and making shields fit for the battlefield! We have been learning about the chronology of events during this historical event and we will soon be making news reports all about it. Now that we have our shields, we can even pretend to be the Anglo-Saxon and Norman soldiers!

Literacy tools

July14

At literacy we have been planning out own stories and we are going to write them soon . To help us with that miss Allen has made us some tools . My favrite tool is personification because it isn’t real and you get to say things that are not real . The tools help us a lot because it has different ways to make our writing better and by using the tools I have improved so much that I am in squares. The first tool that I learnt was active writing or simile . I am really happy that I have a teacher like miss Allen and I can’t  wait to write my own story.

In Music

July14

In music we are doing a short snappy song to get it in our head. It’s called Bankside FM. It’s so fun . We also learnt how to make and write music. There is E G B D F. If you like you can remember it by ‘every good boy derves fruit’.

There is also some high notes F A C E. You can remember it by ‘Face’.These kindof notes are high so they are called space notes.I really enjoy music.

in maths we have been doing  fractions. on Monday we were doing fraction quantities and I found it really easy. on Tuesday we were doing improper fractions for example 271/5 we had to make the numerator the smaller number for example this might be the answer 8 3/5 . I found the in proper fractions easy and the squares had to do vice a versa for example 4 7/8.

Whats happening in PSHCE

July3

In PSHCE we have been learning about self esteem. self esteem means when you don’t like something about you. But every one is different every one has a special talent or a special skill. For example I am not the best at maths or writing. My talent is that I am very good at history one of the best at topic and one of the best at science.

Fractions, decimals percentages

July3

In maths we have been learning about fractions, decimals and percentages. Yesterday we had to use different methods to work out the problem. The method that I liked was when you get the main number and divide by a 100. Then when I worked it out it would be something like 0.8 if I was dividing 80 by a 100. But there is an easier way but it dosnt always work.so for example if you have to divide 50 by a number you don’t have to do that. Because 50 means half so the answer will be half of the number for example if its 50 divide by 30 the answer will be 15 since half of 30 is 15.
